HEALTH SERVICES

Family Consultants assist parents in understanding and planning for the physical, dental, mental and nutritional health of infants, toddlers and adults.

Health screenings completed with the child, or results obtained from a health care provider include vision, hearing, lead, hemoglobin and oral/dental. A system for referral for concerns is in place for health issues and follow-up is monitored. The program also determines if the child has an ongoing source of health care and is up-to-date on recommended immunizations.

MSEHS employs a mental health professional to consult with families about child social-emotional development and behavior concerns, and depression, relationship issues and mental health matters for adults. The Mental Health Specialist works through a collaborative relationship with staff and families to understand and practice skills that foster mental wellness and healthy development in children.

Family Consultants help families consider changes in lifestyle or habits for better health including stress reduction, quitting smoking, eating healthier meals and ways to make the home healthy and safe. MSEHS staff include Certified Child Safety Restraint Technicians who will help families learn about correct installation and use of car seats.
